Five days of Sommerkirmes on the Klingenhalle event grounds in Solingen
The Sommerkirmes am Weyersberg is one of the traditional Volksfeste (popular festivals) in Solingen. From July 3rd to 7th, 2026, the Klingenhalle event grounds will transform into a colorful fairground with carousels, a Ferris wheel, dodgems, shooting galleries, and food stalls. For five days, Solingen's city center will pulse to the rhythm of showmen, families, and fairgoers from the entire region.
The Sommerkirmes is classic in the best sense: you'll find rides for all ages — from the gentle children's train and the Ferris wheel with views over Solingen to fast-paced loopings. Add to that numerous food stalls offering bratwurst, fries, potato pancakes, crêpes, and of course, candied almonds, cotton candy, and chocolate-covered fruit. Shooting galleries, lottery stalls, and grabber machines complete the offering. Admission is free; you pay per ride or stall.
The event grounds at Weyersberg are located right next to the Klingenhalle, the multi-purpose hall in Solingen-Mitte. The location is conveniently accessible: just a few minutes by bus from Solingen main station, and the city center is also quickly reachable on foot. The grounds are large enough for a classic Stadtkirmes (city fair) with 30 to 40 attractions.
Solingen, the "Klingenstadt" (City of Blades) with around 160,000 inhabitants, is a major city in the Bergisches Land with a distinct festival culture. In addition to the Sommerkirmes am Weyersberg, the wine festival in the city center, the "Echt Scharf" summer party, and the Bergisches Oktoberfest are also established events on the calendar. The city is centrally located between Düsseldorf, Wuppertal, and Cologne and is easily accessible via the A3 motorway and the S-Bahn lines S1/S7.
If you like hustle and bustle, come on Friday or Saturday evening. Families with small children will feel more comfortable on Sunday afternoon — less crowded, more space at the children's carousels. The opening day on Friday often starts with special offers on rides.
