An Open House for the City

The SOS Mütterzentrum Salzgitter-Bad has been a central point of contact for families, mothers, children, and teenagers in the Bad district for years. Counseling, language courses, open playgroups, creative workshops, homework help, and a meeting café shape the weeks. Once a year, the center opens its doors for the big Sommerfest to the entire neighborhood – a deliberately low-threshold, free event that aims to build bridges between generations, cultures, and social groups.

Date and Schedule

The 2026 Sommerfest will take place on Sunday, June 21, 2026, starting at 12 PM – fitting for the beginning of the calendar summer. The courtyard, adjacent rooms, and garden will be used for activities; weather permitting, the program will take place mostly outdoors.

Activities for Children and Families

• Creative Activities – Painting, crafting, fabric painting, pottery, chalk drawing
• Sporting Activities – Bouncy castle, goal wall, obstacle course, dance animation
• Artistic Actions – Face painting, glitter tattoos, participatory theater
• Library in the Garden – Storytelling session, book sale
• Counseling – Staff members from the Mütterzentrum are available for questions

Culinary Delights

Homemade cake, waffles, ice cream, grilled items, and especially international specialties from the home countries of regular guests characterize the culinary offerings. Turkish, Syrian, Polish, Vietnamese, and West African delicacies bring their favorite recipes – a feast for the diversity of flavors.

Music and Stage

A music program with local bands, solo artists, and dance groups accompanies the afternoon. The atmosphere is familial and inviting, admission is free, donations for the work of the Mütterzentrum are welcome.
