When the Bürger- und Sozialzentrum Huchting — bus… for short — invites you to its Sommerfest, the district in Bremen's southwest becomes a meeting point. On a Friday afternoon, the centre on Amersfoorter Straße transforms into a vibrant place for encounters: around sixteen clubs and organisations present their work, invite participation, and showcase the diversity of social and cultural life in Huchting. The Sommerfest is one of bus…'s annual highlights and part of a regular event cycle that also includes the Children's Festival, the Women's Festival, and the Christmas Café.

Bratwurst, Waffles, and Good Cheer

The festival features bratwurst from the grill, waffles, coffee and cake, as well as music and dancing. The relaxed, family atmosphere makes the Sommerfest a place where neighbours can get to know each other, generations can come together, and the district's volunteer engagement becomes visible. Typically, several hundred guests attend the festival — a clear sign of bus…'s deep roots in the community.

A Strong Sense of Community for Over 25 Years

The Bürger- und Sozialzentrum has existed for over 25 years on the grounds of a former school in the heart of Huchting. Under its roof, more than a dozen clubs and neighbourhood initiatives from the areas of culture, social affairs, ecology, work, and sports have joined forces. Here, people who want to actively shape their district come together — through advice, education, culture, and community. The Sommerfest is organised in partnership with the Kulturladen Huchting.
