Village festival on the Am Anger festival grounds in the Hangelsberg district — July 10 and 11, 2026
Hangelsberg is a district of the municipality of Grünheide (Mark), which has become known for the Tesla Gigafactory in its immediate vicinity — and has been a typical Märkisch railway village for decades. The municipality of Grünheide belongs to the Oder-Spree district and is located on the eastern outskirts of Berlin. Hangelsberg itself has around 2,000 inhabitants, its own train station on the Berlin–Frankfurt (Oder) line, a school, a sports club, a fire department — everything that makes a village lively. The summer festival is the annual self-affirmation of this village community.
The venue is the Am Anger festival grounds, Hangelsberg's historic village square. This is where the festival tent is set up, where the food stalls and the stage are located, and where the bouncy castles stand. The Hangelsberg local council, a committee of the municipality of Grünheide for the district, coordinates the preparations — together with the local clubs (fire department, sports club, church community). As with any Brandenburg village festival, the commitment of volunteers is central: setup and dismantling, catering, program — all done by self-help.
The detailed program will be communicated by the municipality of Grünheide and the local council in the weeks before the festival weekend. Known from previous years are: Opening on Friday evening with a torchlight procession through the village to the festival grounds, welcome by the local mayor and guests of honor, followed by a DJ in the festival tent until late. Saturday during the day is family program: bouncy castles, children's games, craft and game stations, catering by the clubs; in the evening, live music or DJ again. A proven and popular combination that brings together hundreds of people from Hangelsberg and guests from neighboring villages and the surrounding area of Berlin every year.
Hangelsberg can be reached from Berlin Hauptbahnhof in about 35 minutes by RB 26 or RE 1 — the train station is in the village. Those arriving by car can park in the village streets or at the festival grounds. A weekend trip can be well combined with a visit to the Werlsee, the Müggelsee, or a hike through the forests on the outskirts of Berlin.
In 2026, the Hangelsberg local council once again invites you to the traditional summer festival on the Am Anger festival grounds. Two days of village festival program, supported by local clubs (fire department, sports club, church community) and the municipality of Grünheide. The exact times and program details will be communicated in the weeks before the event on the tourism website of the municipality of Grünheide and on local notice boards.
