About Heimatfest Grünheide
Heimatfest Grünheide — edition 2026
The Heimatfest Grünheide 2026 will take place on August 7th and 8th, 2026, on the Festwiese by the Werlsee. It is the largest community festival of the year and brings together the entire Grünheide community as well as guests from the Berlin metropolitan area.
The concept is suitable for all generations: during the day, family activities — games and craft stands, bouncy castle, club stands of Grünheide's sports and cultural associations. In the evening, DJ sets and a laser show take over the grounds by the lake. The grand finale on Saturday evening is the large summer fireworks display over the Werlsee.

Heimatfest by the Werlsee
When the Festwiese by the Werlsee becomes a stage in August, everyone in the Oder-Spree district knows: it's Heimatfest time. The Sommerfest Festwiese Grünheide is the central community festival of the year — a mix of folk festival, village reunion, and open-air concert. The venue is the Festwiese directly on the Werlsee, one of the many lakes that give Grünheide a unique natural panorama on the outskirts of Berlin.
Two Days, Three Generations
The Heimatfest is deliberately designed to be intergenerational: during the day, families set the tone — games and craft activities, bouncy castle, local clubs with interactive stands, children's program. In the evening, DJs and a laser show take over the festival grounds, and the youth dance by the Werlsee. To conclude on Saturday evening, there will be the traditional fireworks over the lake — the most spectacular moment of the entire weekend.

Grünheide and the Werlsee
Grünheide (Mark) is located about 30 km east of Berlin in the Oder-Spree district and is easily accessible via the A10 motorway and the RB36 train. The municipality is famous for its chain of clear lakes — Werlsee, Peetzsee, Möllensee — and for its idyllic lakeside living, which once attracted Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel. In summer, the Festwiese by the Werlsee is a meeting point for the entire region: guests come from Erkner, Fürstenwalde, Rüdersdorf, and of course from Berlin.
Heimatfest and the Tesla Boom
Since the opening of the Tesla Gigafactory in 2022, Grünheide has experienced an economic boost. However, the Heimatfest remains what it has always been: a family festival in the tradition of Brandenburg summer festivals, organized by the local council and supported by volunteer commitment. The tradition provides a sense of home in a time when the community is rapidly changing.
