One of the Oldest Marksmen's Associations in Germany
The Bürgerschützengesellschaft von 1252 Northeim e.V., founded in 1252, is one of the oldest marksmen's associations in Germany. More than 770 years of club history make the association an institution whose tradition reaches far back into the Middle Ages. During this time, the Northeim Schützenfest has shaped countless generations and is an expression of an unbroken civic tradition.
Schützenfest as a Major Social Event
The Schützenfest is the annual major event of the Bürgerschützengesellschaft. For several days at the end of June, the Schützenplatz Am Schützenring transforms into a festival ground with a marquee, beer wagons, food stalls, and carousels. The festival attracts citizens of Northeim, former residents, representatives of friendly marksmen's associations, and visitors from the wider region.
