Serenade in front of the Basilica

The Serenade with the Marktleugast Music Association will take place on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in front of the Marienweiher pilgrimage basilica. Marienweiher is a district of the municipality of Marktleugast in the Kulmbach district in Upper Franconia, in the heart of the Frankenwald Nature Park.

As part of the Egerer Pilgrimage

The serenade is part of the traditional Egerer Pilgrimage weekend (September 4–6, 2026), during which pilgrims from the Bohemian Egerland have been coming to the Marienweiher Basilica for centuries. Marienweiher is one of Upper Franconia's oldest pilgrimage sites and houses a Gothic sacred image from the 14th century.

Franconian Brass Band Tradition

The Marktleugast Music Association will perform a program of classical brass music, sacred works, and Franconian folk tunes in front of the baroque facade of the basilica. The serenade harmonizes the soundscape of Upper Franconian brass music with the historical setting of the pilgrimage church.

Spiritual Atmosphere

Its location between the forests of the Frankenwald and the centrally located basilica makes the serenade an event of special atmosphere. Following the evening pilgrimage mass, guests can experience Franconian festival culture in its most beautiful form – summer music under the open sky in the shadow of one of Bavaria's most important pilgrimage basilicas.
