The Summer Festival by the Lake

With Salzgitter Lake – a 73-hectare former opencast mine lake that has been renatured as a recreational area since the 1980s – the large city has one of its most attractive leisure backdrops. The Reppnersche Bucht in the north of the lake, with its sandy beach, indoor swimming pool, and gastronomic infrastructure, forms the ideal stage for a summer festival of this magnitude. The Seesause will take place from August 22 to 24, 2026, concluding the open-air season at Salzgitter Lake with a spectacular weekend.

Acrobatics by the Weisheit Siblings

A special attraction in 2026 will be the performances by the Weisheit siblings from Gotha, Salzgitter's Thuringian partner city. The award-winning acrobats are among the outstanding representatives of their craft in Germany, combining classical acrobatics with modern choreography to create spectacular stage shows. Their performance underscores the vibrant cultural exchange between the two partner cities.

Water Sports Show Day on Saturday

On Saturday, August 23, Salzgitter Lake will be dedicated to water sports. The local sailing club will present its boats and offer taster sessions, canoeists will demonstrate slalom and water polo, and the Marine Kameradschaft will host maritime demonstrations. A colorful array that impressively illustrates the diverse possibilities of the lake as a sports venue.

First Salzgitter Lake Evening Run

Brand new to the Seesause program in 2026: the 1st Salzgitter Lake Evening Run on Friday, August 22, starting at 9:00 PM. Over distances of 5.4 kilometers and 10.8 kilometers, runners of all skill levels can experience the illuminated lakeside promenade in a special atmosphere. The organizer is the triathlon department of SV Glück Auf Gebhardshagen.

Family Program and Gastronomy

Throughout the three days, stage performances, hands-on activities for children, creative stations, and a diverse gastronomic offer will ensure a varied experience. The event is free to attend.
