Christmas market of the district town Seelow in the Märkisch-Oderland district
When the days are shortest and the snowy air blows across the Oderbruch, the lights of the Seelower Weihnacht illuminate the Seelow city center. The traditional Christmas market of the district town transforms the center into a meeting place for three December days. Wooden stalls, a fir tree, fairy lights, and the scent of mulled wine and roasted almonds are part of it, as is the musical program on the stage.
At the Seelower Weihnacht, you'll find what makes a Brandenburg Christmas market special: handmade jewelry, felt goods, ceramics, and wood crafts from the region; along with classic market fare like bratwurst, shashlik, pretzels, mulled wine, hot chocolate, and eggnog. Associations from Seelow and the surrounding area run a large part of the stalls – so the market is not just a sales area, but also a social meeting point for the town.
School classes, choirs, brass bands, and regional musicians take turns on the festival stage. Santa Claus often visits the children, and there are craft activities and storytelling sessions in the nearby library or church. For families, the Seelower Weihnacht is an easily walkable outing that combines a stress-free pre-Christmas stroll with a children's program.
Seelow is located in the Märkisch-Oderland district, in the middle of the Oderbruch, that vast plain that Frederick the Great had drained. The town is known for the Seelower Höhen memorial, which commemorates the fierce fighting of spring 1945. Today, Seelow attracts travelers with its history, landscape, and a rural tranquility that gives it a unique profile among Brandenburg's small towns.
In 2026, the Seelower Weihnacht will again open its gates from December 11 to 13 for the Christmas market in the city center. Stalls with regional handicrafts, classic market cuisine, a stage program with choirs, school classes, and associations, as well as a visit from Santa Claus are part of it, as every year.
The Seelower Weihnacht is one of the fixed dates in the Advent calendar of the Märkisch-Oderland district. The manageable market, easy to explore on foot, is ideal for a family afternoon or an evening visit after work.
A detailed program will be published shortly before the market by the town of Seelow on amt-lebus.de as well as on the website of the town of Seelow.
