Largest Cosplay Convention in Southern Germany
Since its first edition, the Science Fiction Meeting Speyer has developed into one of the most important science fiction conventions in southwestern Germany. Thousands of fans and hundreds of cosplayers travel annually to immerse themselves in fictional worlds amidst historic aircraft, space travel models, and locomotives.
2026 Motto: Fiction Meets Reality
The 2026 motto “Fiction Meets Reality” highlights the unique setting of the Technik Museum: While cosplayers in Star Wars uniforms parade through the halls, they stand among original aircraft, locomotives, and space technology. The lines between cinematic vision and real technological history blur — an atmosphere that makes the meeting unique.
All Universes Represented
The spectrum is broad: Star Wars (with a large presence of the German Garrison — the German section of the worldwide Star Wars cosplayer organization), Star Trek (Klingon, Federation), Stargate, Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC, Doctor Who, Babylon 5, Battlestar Galactica, Anime and Manga (cosplay from Demon Slayer, My Hero Academia, One Piece, Naruto), Fantasy (Lord of the Rings, Game of Thrones).
Cosplay Parades Daily at 4 PM
The highlight of each day is the Cosplay Parade at 4 PM. Hundreds of cosplayers march in an organized procession through the museum halls — spectators line the routes, applauding the most elaborate costumes. The parade is moderated, and individual outstanding cosplays are presented. It is the most popular moment of the weekend.
Dealer Area and Exhibitions
A designated dealer area offers collectible figures, comics, books, merchandise, and cosplay accessories (wigs, makeup, replica weapons, costume parts). Fan clubs present their organizations, and special exhibitions showcase original props from film and TV. Autograph sessions with celebrity guests from the science fiction scene round off the offerings.
