Three days of city festival and folk festival in the Salzlandkreis — from the market fountain to the Elbe promenade
When the Schönebeck Market Square, with its distinctive market fountain, lights up on the last weekend of May, and a long festival mile stretches from the market square through Elbstraße down to the Salzblume on the Elbe promenade, it's time again for the Schönebecker Brunnenfest. Together with the directly connected Elbrummel — the large amusement park with a Ferris wheel, carousels, and food stalls — the Brunnenfest is the most important city festival in the Salzlandkreis.
The concept is clearly structured: The main stage is located on the market square directly in front of the fountain — Frühschoppen, afternoon programs, bands, and tribute shows take place here. An vendor mile with local suppliers, gastronomy, and food stalls stretches along Elbstraße. The Elbrummel with carousels, showmen, and especially the Ferris wheel, which offers a wonderful view over Schönebeck and the Elbe meadows from above, is set up on the Salzblumenplatz directly on the Elbe.
The organizer is Maxi Top Veranstaltungen from Bernburg, the folk festival specialist of the Salzlandkreis. The music program mixes regional bands with supra-regional tribute acts: Schönebeck groups like Walk On play, as do Tänzchentee, Odyssee (a Udo Lindenberg tribute band), the Peter Maffay Show, or Mallorca Schlager stars like Jürgen Peter. Also locally known are the performances of the Roch 'n Roll Mäuse, the Felgeleber Carnevalclub, the breakdancers from Union Schönebeck, and the gymnasts' acrobatics.
Schönebeck (Elbe) is located about 20 km southeast of Magdeburg on the Elbe — a former salt trading and industrial city, which is now the administrative seat of the Salzlandkreis. The Brunnenfest has been established since 2018 and will be in its 9th edition in 2026. For the region between Magdeburg, Calbe, Bernburg, and Staßfurt, it is a central early summer event.
The Brunnenfest is family-friendly, East German folk festival style, with a clear focus on Schlager and tribute pop. Anyone who wants to experience an authentic city and folk festival in Saxony-Anhalt — with a Ferris wheel on the Elbe, an ecumenical city service on Sunday, a sea shanty choir in the afternoon, and Mallorca Schlager until late at night — is in the right place.
The 9th edition once again brings the full Brunnenfest program: three days of live music, ecumenical city service on Sunday, Ferris wheel, carousels, and a long vendor mile from the market square to the Elbe.
Musically, you can expect local Schönebeck stars like Walk On and Tänzchentee, a Udo Lindenberg tribute show with Odyssee, a Peter Maffay show, and Mallorca Schlager with Jürgen Peter. Local highlights include acrobatics from the Schönebeck gymnasts, breakdancing from Union Schönebeck, and performances by the Felgeleber Carnevalclub and the Roch 'n Roll Mäuse.
