The Largest Volksfest in Unterfranken
The Schweinfurter Volksfest on the festival grounds at Niederwerrner Straße is the most important festive event in the industrial center of Unterfranken. For over ten days — from the day after Corpus Christi until the following Sunday — it brings together families, clubs, company outings, and festival visitors from all over Mainfranken on one of Bavaria's largest amusement areas.
Top-Quality Showmen
The city selects around 60 showmen's businesses each year from over 489 applications — ranging from large rides to food stalls and entertainment attractions. The selection rate makes the Schweinfurter Volksfest one of the most sought-after Volksfest dates in the industry. The festival tent, carousels, water slides, roller coasters, haunted houses, and classic Volksfest staples like dodgems and the Ferris wheel are permanent fixtures.
New Attractions in 2026
The 2026 edition premieres three spectacular new attractions: EVOLUTION — a 66-meter-high thrill ride offering panoramic views of the Main valley —, the water ride JIM & JASPER'S WILD WASSER, and the themed ride HALLOWEEN. These new additions complement the established classics and provide an incentive to return year after year.
Themed Days and Program Highlights
The festival week features targeted program days: the Comedy Brunch on opening Sunday with Lower Bavarian cabaret artist Django Asül, Ladies Night on Monday, Family Afternoon on Wednesdays with reduced ride prices, Heroes' Day, a Safe Space program, Public Viewing of the Football World Cup, and the two traditional fireworks displays for the opening and closing.
A City Between Industry and Tradition
Schweinfurt, with its approximately 53,000 inhabitants, is known as the home of global bearing manufacturers SKF, Schaeffler, and ZF — and at the same time, a city with a baroque city center, the legacy of Friedrich Rückert, and a rich festival tradition. The Volksfest, one of the few major purely municipal events without large-scale promoters, remains firmly under municipal control and is a tourist magnet for the entire Mainfranken region.

The 2026 festival week runs from Friday, June 5 — the day after Corpus Christi — to Sunday, June 14. As every year, 60 selected businesses will populate the festival grounds from 489 showman applications. In 2026, the city of Schweinfurt is focusing on three attention-grabbing novelties: the 66-meter-high thrill ride EVOLUTION with panoramic views of the Main valley, the water ride JIM & JASPER'S WILD WASSER, and the themed ride HALLOWEEN.

Getting There
By car via the A70 (Schweinfurt-Zentrum exit). By train to Schweinfurt Hauptbahnhof — about a 15-minute walk from the station or take a city bus to the festival grounds.

Tip
The two fireworks displays at the opening and closing are popular program items — reserve seats near the festival tent early.
