Tradition around the Primary School

The Söhre Primary School is located on the western slope of the Hildesheimer Wald in the municipality of Diekholzen, southwest of Hildesheim. It is the central educational institution for children from Diekholzen and the surrounding districts. Every year in early summer, it opens its doors for a large school festival where the entire village community meets in the schoolyard.

Hands-on Programme for All Ages

Characteristic of the festival are the numerous hands-on stations prepared by classes and parents: face painting, crafts, small sporting competitions, skill games, and stations related to learning content from everyday school life. The classes present small performances, dances, or theatre scenes that the children have often worked on for months. Parents and the parent-teacher association provide guests with coffee, cake, sausages, and cold drinks; the proceeds benefit school projects.

Diekholzen – Village by the Hildesheimer Wald

With around 5,000 inhabitants, Diekholzen is a small municipality in the south of the Hildesheim district. Its location by the Hildesheimer Wald makes it a popular starting point for hikes and bike tours. The Schulfest reflects the close cohesion of the community and is also a good opportunity for visitors from outside to get to know the friendly atmosphere of the village.
