Traditional club festival of the KKSV on the second weekend of June — Schützenplatz Wendisch Evern
The Klein-Kaliber-Schützenverein (KKSV) Wendisch Evern is the central body for sport shooting and the preservation of shooting club culture in the village. The focus is on training and competitive shooting with small-caliber weapons, as well as the annual Schützenfest as the social highlight. Like many shooting clubs in the region, the KKSV is also involved in youth development, integrating the younger generation into club life early on.
As is customary throughout northern Germany, the bird shooting forms the sporting core of the festival. At the KKSV shooting range, the marksmen determine their new monarchs — the King, the Queen of the Ladies, and the Youth King. The proclamation of the king on the evening of the festival is the emotional highlight for the winners. A festive parade, the assembly of club members in uniform, and the ceremonial handover of sashes accompany the proceedings. A dance evening, traditionally with a live band or DJ, follows in the festival tent.
The Schützenfest Wendisch Evern is consistently open to the entire village. Families will find carousels, bouncy castles, children's entertainment, and pony rides. The morning pint (Frühschoppen) on festival Sunday, with brass music and bratwurst, has always been the meeting point for the village community. Friendly clubs from the Samtgemeinde Ostheide also participate in the festive parade.
Wendisch Evern is located southeast of Lüneburg in the Samtgemeinde Ostheide. Despite its proximity to the Hanseatic city, the village has retained its rural character with active club life, a fire brigade, and a church community. The Schützenfest is an expression of this strong village identity.
Saturday is traditionally dedicated to the bird shooting and the king proclamation in the evening. The assembly of club members in shooting uniform, the official shooting, and the ceremonial handover of sashes to the new monarchs mark the start of the dance evening with a live band or DJ in the festival tent. Sunday is more focused on the village: the festive parade, the king's meal, the morning pint, and the family program combine club tradition and village community.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the KKSV about four weeks before the festival. The structure follows the proven highlights of previous years:
