Schützenverein Vörden von 1630

The Schützenverein Vörden von 1630 is one of the oldest marksmen's associations in Lower Saxony, boasting a tradition of almost 400 years. Founded just a few years before the end of the Thirty Years' War, the association has survived numerous upheavals, reforms, and wartime periods. Today, it is a vibrant traditional association with hundreds of members and close ties to the parish and the political municipality of Neuenkirchen-Vörden.

Vörden — Not to Be Confused

Important: Vörden belongs to the municipality of Neuenkirchen-Vörden in the Vechta district, not the town of Damme. The risk of confusion exists because Damme has a district of a similar name, and both municipalities are located in the southern Oldenburg Münsterland region. The Schützenverein Vörden is explicitly the association name of the Vörden district within the twin municipality of Neuenkirchen-Vörden.

The setting for the festival is the Schützenplatz and Schützenhalle Vörden at Schützenstraße 15. The well-established club grounds include the festival tent, hall, shooting range, club rooms, and parking spaces for visiting friendly associations. The infrastructure has grown over the centuries and is now up to the standard of a modern festival site.

Pentecost Weekend with a Clear Structure

The festival weekend is clearly structured: Saturday at 3 PM assembly and festival ceremony, Whit Sunday at 1:30 PM parade and king's shooting, Whit Monday morning 'Frühschoppen' at 10:30 AM. This sequence, practiced for generations, provides reliability for members and friendly associations and makes the Vörden Schützenfest a regionally significant event.
