Founded in 1922, the Schützenverein Suderwittingen looks back on over 100 years of history. Established in the difficult period after the First World War, the association has survived the changes of the 20th century and remains a focal point of village life today.

Suderwittingen – District of Wittingen

Suderwittingen is one of the districts of the town of Wittingen in the Gifhorn district. Despite its incorporation, the village has retained its own identity. The Schützenverein, the fire brigade, and active club life contribute to this independence.

Format: Friday Children's Schützenfest

A special feature is the independent children's Schützenfest on Friday. The youngest members of the association have their own festival day, with age-appropriate competitions and the proclamation of the children's king or queen. This ensures that the tradition is passed on to the next generation.

Main Festival Saturday and Sunday

Saturday and Sunday feature the main festival with the king's shooting, parade, king's proclamation, and dance evenings. The festival tent is set up on the Suderwittingen sports field, the marksmen march in, and club life unfolds in its full glory.

King's Shooting and Proclamation

The highlight is the competition for the royal title. The new monarch is proclaimed in a solemn ceremony, and the king's chain is handed over in the festival tent. Friendly associations from the Wittingen region march along, enhancing the festive atmosphere.

Family Orientation

The combination of the children's Schützenfest and the main festival demonstrates the association's family-oriented approach. Parents, grandparents, and children experience the festival together, each with their own program – a well-thought-out concept designed to appeal to the entire village community.
