One-day association and family festival around the town hall and the cultural and media center
Pulheim is located northwest of Cologne in the Rhein-Erft district with almost 56,000 inhabitants. The town was formed in 1975 from the merger of several villages and is now considered an attractive residential town in the greater Cologne area. The annual Pulheim Stadtfest is a central identity event: not a mega-event, but a quiet citizens' and association festival on the last Saturday before the summer holidays.
The festival area is the courtyard of the town hall and the adjacent area around the Kultur- und Medienzentrum (Cultural and Media Center) at Alte Kölner Straße 26. This makes the festival spatially manageable and easy to walk around – not a huge festival site, but a charming concentration on the city center.
Pulheim's association landscape – sports clubs, cultural groups, initiatives, aid organizations, carnival clubs – presents itself at stands. In addition, artisans offer their works: jewelry, ceramics, textiles, woodwork. Culinary delights come from the associations and commercial caterers: bratwurst, fries, crêpes, ice cream, beer, wine, soft drinks.
Music groups, dance groups, children's shows, and association performances alternate on stage. Sports, games, and hands-on activities for children complement the stage program. The focus is explicitly on families – acts that are fun for small children without boring the adults.
Traditionally, the Stadtfest takes place on the last Saturday before the summer holidays in NRW. In 2026, this falls on July 11. This makes the festival a "before the holidays start" moment for Pulheim families – a cozy start to the vacation season.
The city of Pulheim is organizationally responsible, with the main contact person being Elke Neuhoff from the Cultural Office (Tel. 02238-808194, [email protected]). Office hours Monday–Friday mornings and afternoons. Registrations for stands and program items for 2026 are handled by the Cultural Office.
Pulheim can be reached by train (RE/RB to Pulheim) or by car via the A57 (Pulheim exit). It's a 15-minute drive from Cologne and 30 minutes from Düsseldorf. Those combining the Stadtfest with a day trip can visit the Glessener Mühle or the Geyener Mühlenpark in the surrounding area.
