Traditional marksmen's festival of the Schützenverein Stuhr e.V. with king's shooting, disco night, and district marksmen's festival
The Schützenverein Stuhr e.V. was founded in 1954 and has been an integral part of community life ever since. The club house at Stuhrer Landstraße 142b is a meeting point for members and the venue for the grand Schützenfest, which takes place every year in July. The club preserves the traditions of marksmanship and is also involved in youth work and sport shooting.
Even before the actual festival weekend, members gather for several preliminary evening events. During the citizens' shooting competition on July 9th and 10th, citizens have the opportunity to participate in the competitions. On July 11th, the king's shooting competition follows, where the new monarchs are determined.
The actual festival weekend begins on Friday, July 17th, with the Schützenfest disco in the festival tent. This is where the younger generation comes together and celebrates into the night. Saturday, July 18th, is entirely dedicated to the district marksmen's festival: friendly clubs from the Diepholz district travel to Stuhr with their flag delegations, a festive parade moves through the town, and the new monarchs are proclaimed.
Like many North German Schützenfeste, the Stuhr festival combines competitive shooting with sociability, a festive parade, and dancing. The club welcomes guests and interested parties who wish to learn about the traditions.
The Stuhr marksmen's festival is a highlight of the club's year. The combination of competitive shooting, tradition, and sociability makes it an event that attracts both members and guests.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Schützenverein Stuhr in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
