Shooting Club Culture in Solschen

Solschen is a district of the Ilsede municipality, located between Hildesheim and Peine. Here, shooting club traditions are upheld by two associations: the Bürgercorps Solschen, representing the established shooting fraternity, and the Junggesellschaft Solschen, which unites the single young men of the village – as is common in many villages in Lower Saxony. This dual structure enables a cross-generational festival that preserves tradition while embracing youthful energy.

Festival Program

The festival follows a classic regional choreography:

• Friday: Assembly of the marksmen, opening at the festival grounds, first dance evening with live music or DJ
• Saturday: Bird shooting in the morning, grand parade in the afternoon, proclamation of the king and king's dinner, dance evening with live band
• Sunday: Morning pint, family program with children's entertainment, final dance

Festival Grounds on Rotdornstraße

The festival grounds on Rotdornstraße provide the necessary infrastructure for the festival tent, stage, shooting range, and outdoor catering. During the festival, there is a lively atmosphere: families picnic in the afternoon, marksmen march in uniform, and in the evening, the tent fills up for the dance events.

With the Schützenfest, Solschen presents itself as a place with vibrant club life. The Ilsede municipality comprises several such districts, each maintaining its own festivals – a benefit for the diversity in the Peine district. Solschen is easily accessible via the L 410 / L 481.
