Schützenfest Schulenburg — Tradition since 1955

The SSV Schulenburg was founded in 1955 as KSVWL (Königlich Schleswig-Holsteinischer Verein für Wehrhaftigkeit und Liebhaberei — Schulenburg) and thus looks back on over seven decades of club history. The annual Schützenfest in the summer is the most important date in the club's calendar and a central social event in the Langenhagen district of Schulenburg.

Schützenhaus Schulenburg

The Schützenhaus at Roter Weg 14-20 in Langenhagen-Schulenburg is the traditional venue. It serves as the club house and social center of the shooting club all year round. During the Schützenfest, the Schützenhaus grounds are transformed into a festival mile with a festival tent, amusement rides, shooting galleries, and food stalls. The festival days run from 6 PM to 11 PM each day — a deliberately compact format that emphasizes the character of a convivial evening festival.

Three Festival Days

Friday evening marks the start with the opening, gathering, and first dance evening. Saturday is dedicated to competitions — especially the King's shooting — and a grand dance evening. Sunday features a festival service, a festive procession through Schulenburg, the crowning of the new monarchs, and the King's ball. Throughout all three days, live music, dancing, and a folk festival atmosphere characterize the event.

District in Festive Attire

Schulenburg is a district with a village character on the northern outskirts of Langenhagen. For the residents, the Schützenfest is one of the most important occasions to present themselves as a village community. Friendly clubs from the greater Langenhagen and Hanover area travel in, families meet, and former residents return. The voluntary work of the club members, friendly organizations, and numerous helpers makes the festival possible.
