Four days of Schützenfest by Oelde's oldest shooting society
The Schützengesellschaft Oelde e.V. von 1858 — or SG 1858 for short — is the oldest shooting society in the Münsterland town of Oelde. Its annual Schützenfest is one of the most traditional cultural events in the region and is scheduled for August 28 to 31, 2026 — an extended weekend from Friday to Monday, marking the highlight of the Oelde Schützenfest season.
The extended festival weekend follows the classic structure of Westphalian Schützenfeste, extended to a fourth day:
Exact times and band program will be communicated via sg1858.de and the Oelde app.
SG 1858 is not the only shooting society in Oelde — the town is characterized by an extraordinary density of Schützenfeste. From May to September 2026, Schützenfeste will be held in the Oelde districts of Stromberg, Sünninghausen, Ahmenhorst, Lette, and the core city of Oelde. The SG 1858 festival in the city center is the seasonal highlight.
The Schützengesellschaft Oelde 1858 upholds the typical Münsterland shooting tradition: a king and queen couple as representatives of the club year, a parade with music bands on Sunday afternoon, a marksmen's mass in the parish church, and a coronation ball on Saturday evening in the festival tent. The tradition is closely linked to Catholic parish culture — the shooting king is not only a club function but also a social title of honor in the district.
Oelde is located in the southeastern Münsterland region in the Warendorf district. With almost 30,000 inhabitants, the town is a typical Münsterland medium-sized town — characterized by agriculture, medium-sized industry (including Miele in Oelde-Stromberg), and an active club scene. In 2026, the town will celebrate several Schützenfeste and is one of the most vibrant cultural event locations in Westphalia. The four-day festival of SG 1858 attracts guests from the entire district and beyond.
The 2026 Schützenfest SG 1858 Oelde continues the tradition since 1858. Four days of Münsterland tradition with a parade on Sunday — the central date in the Oelde club calendar.
