Tradition since 1913
The Bürger-Schützen-Verein Schloß Neuhaus 1913 e.V., also known as the St. Henricus-Bruderschaft, has kept the marksmen's tradition alive in the Paderborn district of Schloß Neuhaus for over a century. The annual Schützenfest is one of the largest local festivals in the Hochstift Paderborn — and in 2026, it runs from June 6th to 8th.
Schloßpark Schloß Neuhaus — the most beautiful festival grounds in the Hochstift
The setting makes the BSV Schützenfest special: The Weser Renaissance Schloß Neuhaus, one of the most important surviving castles in the region, along with its extensive park and the directly adjacent festival grounds, provides the stage for bird shooting, the festival tent, and the parade. The Freilichtbühne Schloß Neuhaus (open-air stage) is the venue for the junior marksmen's bird shooting.
Program Structure
- Thursday, June 4, 2026 — Corpus Christi in Mastbruch: Festive procession with participation of the marksmen, traditional start of the festival week.
- Saturday, June 6, 2026 — Junior Marksmen's Bird Shooting: The junior marksmen's king is determined at the Freilichtbühne Schloß Neuhaus. Opening parade, festival tent opening.
- Sunday, June 7, 2026 — Festival Parade: The grand festival parade marches through Schloß Neuhaus with all companies and departments, music bands, and festively decorated carriages.
- Monday, June 8, 2026 — Coronation and Closing: Coronation ball in the festival tent, program by the companies, and conclusion of the Schützenfest.
The Companies and Departments
The BSV is divided into several companies and departments, each maintaining its own program during the festival — from morning pint to dance evening in the festival tent. Detailed individual schedules are published by the companies on their own websites and local notices.
Schloß Neuhaus — Paderborn's district with a castle
Schloß Neuhaus is a northern district of Paderborn in North Rhine-Westphalia, located directly at the confluence of the Alme, Lippe, Pader, and Thune rivers. The castle served the Prince-Bishops of Paderborn as a residence until the 18th century and is now a school and event location, as well as home to the former State Garden Show grounds. During the Schützenfest, the Schloßpark transforms into a lively folk festival site.
Getting There
By car via the A33 (exit Paderborn-Schloß Neuhaus). Parking spaces in the vicinity are usually heavily frequented during the festival — public transport is the better choice. By train: Paderborn Hbf station, then bus lines 1, 8, or 11 towards Schloß Neuhaus.
