Marksmen Tradition in Üfingen

Üfingen, with just under 1,000 inhabitants, is one of Salzgitter's smaller districts, but it belongs to the traditional Salder municipal district, which includes the districts of Salder, Üfingen, and Sauingen. The Salzgitter-Üfingen Marksmen's Club is an important social pillar of village life and organizes the annual Schützenfest with great volunteer effort. The club's headquarters are at Katzenwiesenring 119.

Club Structure

The club is a member of the Salzgitter District Marksmen's Association, an umbrella organization that brings together the marksmen's clubs of the entire city of Salzgitter and coordinates, among other things, the annual City Marksmen's Day. Regular training, competitions, and social club evenings characterize the club's year.

Festival Traditions

As with all Salzgitter marksmen's clubs, the Schützenfest follows the classic traditions of North German marksmen's events: bird shooting (Vogelschießen), king shooting (Königsschießen), festival parade (Festumzug), proclamation of the king (Königsproklamation), and the celebratory king's dinner (Königsessen) are integral parts. The festival tent serves as the social center with live music and dance evenings.

Program to Follow

The exact date for 2026 will be announced by the Üfingen Marksmen's Club in the spring, as is customary. The festival is expected to take place in the summer months of June, July, or August, depending on coordination with the other Salzgitter marksmen's clubs.
