Schützenfest Salzgitter-Hallendorf / Watenstedt

Two Districts, One Club

The districts of Hallendorf and Watenstedt are located in the southwestern part of Salzgitter and are organisationally part of the Bad district. Both villages were profoundly changed by the establishment of the Hermann-Göring-Werke from 1937 onwards and the subsequent industrial development. Today, Salzgitter AG and neighbouring plants shape the landscape, while the village community remains vibrant through clubs such as the volunteer fire brigade and the Schützenverein.

Schützenverein and Tradition

The Schützenverein Hallendorf/Watenstedt is a member of the Salzgitter District Marksmen's Association. As in many North German communities, the annual Schützenfest is one of the most important dates in the village calendar – beyond the sport of shooting, it serves as an intergenerational meeting point for families, neighbours, and visitors.

Traditional Programme

• Vogelschießen (bird shooting) – determination of the Marksmen King/Queen
• Königsproklamation (King's Proclamation) – with the awarding of the king's chain
• Festumzug (festive parade) – through both districts with a marching band
• Festzelt (marquee) – with dance evenings and live band
• Frühschoppen (morning pint) – on Sunday morning with a brass band
• Königsessen (King's Dinner) as a social highlight
• Kranzniederlegung (wreath-laying) at the war memorial

Date 2026

The specific date for 2026 will be published by the club (as of spring 2026, still pending). Usually, it takes place on summer weekends between June and August. Current information from the Salzgitter District Marksmen's Association and local notices.
