Village Community and Shooting Tradition

The districts of Engelnstedt and Beddingen belong to the Thiede district in the southeast of Salzgitter and are both strongly rural. The village community is concentrated around the clubs: the volunteer fire brigade, sports club, countrywomen's association, and above all the Schützenverein Engelnstedt/Beddingen. For generations, the annual Schützenfest has been the central date in the village calendar.

Classic Schedule

• Bird Shooting – Determination of the Shooting King/Queen
• King Proclamation – with presentation of the king's chain
• Parade – through Engelnstedt and/or Beddingen with a marching band
• Festival Tent – Dance evenings with a live band
• Frühschoppen with a brass band
• King's Dinner as a social highlight
• Wreath Laying at the war memorial
• Shooting Service – ecumenical or denominational
