What Happens at a Farming Community Shooting Festival?

Farming community shooting festivals follow a similar, somewhat more familiar format than the large city shooting festivals:

• King's Shoot on the first or second day — men and sometimes women of the farming community shoot for the title of king or queen.
• Parade through the farming community with the participating shooters, the king and his court.
• Dance evening in the festival tent or shooting hall with live music or a DJ.
• Catering by club members — bratwurst, beer, homemade salads.
• Coronation of the new king and queen and handover of the insignia.

Münsterland Shooting Tradition

The Münsterland, along with the Sauerland, is one of the regions in Germany with the highest density of active shooting clubs. Unlike in the major carnival strongholds on the Rhine, the Schützenfest is the biggest event of the year here for the village community.
