Summer Schützenfest in the Nienburg district of Melchiorshausen at the Schützenplatz
Melchiorshausen is one of the numerous districts of the town of Nienburg/Weser and, despite being incorporated, has preserved its village character and independent club landscape. The Melchiorshausen Marksmen's Club is a fixture in local club life and organizes the traditional Schützenfest every year.
The Melchiorshausen Schützenplatz is the club's central facility, featuring shooting ranges, a festival meadow, and the clubhouse. This is where the shooting competitions, the reception for the festive procession, and the dance events take place. The grounds are located on the outskirts of the district and are well accessible by transport.
Unlike large, multi-day Schützenfeste, the Melchiorshausen festival is designed as a day event. It begins at 12 p.m. with the marksmen assembling at the Schützenplatz, followed by a festive procession through the village, the King's shooting, the King's dinner for the dignitaries, and an evening dance in the festival tent or clubhouse.
The Schützenfest is one of the central dates in Melchiorshausen's annual calendar. It unites the village community, passes on tradition between generations, and underscores the identity-forming function of club life in the district. Friendly marksmen's clubs from the entire Nienburg municipal area and the Mittelweser collective municipality participate in the festive procession, contributing to the supra-local networking of marksmen's traditions.
The Marksmen's Club will publish the detailed 2026 program in advance via notices in the district and on the regional event website nienburg-online.de.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
