Four Rural Districts, One Association
The Schützenverein Matrum-Timmerlage-Kneheim-Nieholte e.V. is a special case among the shooting associations in the Cloppenburg district: it unites the four neighboring rural districts of Matrum, Timmerlage, Kneheim, and Nieholte in a single association. The festival is therefore less a village shooting festival and more a rural districts' festival, reflecting the rural settlement structure of the southern Cloppenburg district.
Festival Weekend and May Walk
The club year traditionally begins with the May walk (Maigang) on May 30, 2026 — a social hike of the club members through the four rural districts. The actual Schützenfest follows on July 18 and 19, 2026 (analogous to the previous year's planning of July 19–20, 2025). The highlights include the King's reception, a parade through Matrum, a festival church service, the King's banquet, proclamation, and coronation, as well as a dance evening in the festival tent.

The festival takes place on the association's own grounds, the Schützenplatz at Haßkamp 3 in the Matrum rural district. Matrum is the largest of the four rural districts and hosts the association's facilities.

The Schützenverein Matrum-Timmerlage-Kneheim-Nieholte will publish the final 2026 program in early summer on schuetzenverein-matrum.de. The structure will follow the proven cornerstones of previous years.

- Saturday, May 30, 2026: May walk (Maigang) — a social hike for club members through the four rural districts of Matrum, Timmerlage, Kneheim, and Nieholte
- Saturday, July 18, 2026: Reception of the reigning shooting king, march to the Schützenplatz Haßkamp, opening of the festival, King's ball with live band
- Sunday, July 19, 2026: Festival church service, parade through Matrum with marching band and association flags, morning pint (Frühschoppen), King's banquet, proclamation and coronation of the new royal couple, closing evening
