Mainsche — District of Pennigsehl

Mainsche is a district of the municipality of Pennigsehl in the western Nienburg/Weser district. Pennigsehl belongs to the municipal association of Liebenau-Pennigsehl-Steyerberg. The small village has preserved its independent club landscape and community spirit, supported by a few but active clubs.

Mainsche Marksmen's Club

The Schützenverein Mainsche (Mainsche Marksmen's Club) is a central pillar of village life and organises the traditional Schützenfest every year. With a manageable number of members, the club is typical of the small rural marksmen's clubs in Lower Saxony – run by volunteers, connected to tradition, and identity-forming.

Am Hasenberg Community Centre

The venue is the Dorfgemeinschaftshaus Mainsche (Mainsche Community Centre) at Am Hasenberg 2. The community centre is the central meeting point of the district and offers both the rooms for the king's shooting and the festival hall for the dance evening.

Start at 1 p.m.

The festival starts at 1 p.m. and is designed as a day event. The early start in the afternoon allows for the king's shooting, the festival parade, and the king's proclamation to take place before the evening, so that the dance evening can follow in a relaxed atmosphere.

Date Tradition

The date for 2026 will be officially announced by the club in spring. Following the tradition of previous years (2020: July 26th), a date in July is expected. Current information about the Liebenau-Pennigsehl-Steyerberg municipal association and nienburg-online.de.

Character of a Village Schützenfest

Unlike the large city Schützenfeste, the Mainsche festival thrives on its manageable size and the direct participation of the village community. Here, everyone knows everyone, the marksmen are neighbours and friends, and the festival is a central event of the village year. Friendly clubs from the municipal association participate in the festival parade.

Schützenfest Mainsche — edition 2026

The Schützenfest Mainsche 2026 will likely be celebrated on a Saturday in July 2026 at the Mainsche community centre (Am Hasenberg 2, 31621 Pennigsehl). Starts at 1 p.m. The Mainsche Marksmen's Club invites members, friendly clubs from the Liebenau-Pennigsehl-Steyerberg municipal association, and the village population to a traditional Schützenfest day with king's shooting, festival parade, king's dinner, and evening entertainment. The exact date will be announced in spring 2026.

The Marksmen's Club will publish the exact date and detailed programme for 2026 via the Liebenau-Pennigsehl-Steyerberg municipal association and nienburg-online.de.
