Traditional village and club festival of SV Garham with vintage car meeting and morning pint
The Vorwaldfest Garham is the most important summer festival of SV Garham e.V. and at the same time a central village event for the Lower Bavarian market town of Hofkirchen and its districts. The venue is the festival grounds at the kindergarten, directly on the village's main street — centrally located and within walking distance. The festival combines sporting competition, village conviviality, and folk tradition.
The event kicks off on Friday evening with a stand concert and opening beer tapping in the festival tent — usually with an external party band. Saturday is dedicated to the youth football tournament on the sports field — teams from the entire district compete against each other. In the evening, there's a rock night in the festival tent with local or regional bands.
Sunday is the program highlight: From 10 a.m., the vintage car meeting takes place in the village square, followed by a parade to the sports grounds. In the festival tent, the Garhamer Blaskapelle plays during the morning pint — with typical Lower Bavarian brass band music. For lunch, a traditional *mixed roast with dumplings and salad* is served. The afternoon features a penalty shootout fun tournament and family program. The event concludes on Monday with the seniors' afternoon with discounted rides.
A spacious funfair with dodgems and children's attractions complements the festival. A raffle with top prizes like 1,000 euros and VIP tickets for a Bundesliga match attracts many ticket buyers every year.
Garham, with around 1,000 inhabitants, is one of the largest districts of the market town of Hofkirchen in the district of Passau (state of Bavaria). The region between the Danube and the Bavarian Forest is called the Vorwald — a scenically attractive, less touristy area with mixed forest, meadows, and small villages. The patron of the festival is traditionally Mayor Josef Kufner.
The Vorwaldfest 2026 begins on Saturday, June 27, from 6 p.m. at the festival grounds at the Garham kindergarten. It opens with a stand concert and beer tapping, followed by a rock night with a regional band.
The weekend program continues the tradition: vintage car meeting on Sunday morning in the village square, parade to the festival grounds, morning pint with the Garham Blaskapelle, lunch with *mixed roast*. In the afternoon, a fun penalty shootout tournament and family program. Funfair with dodgems, raffle with attractive top prizes.
