The traditional marksmen's festival of the district seat — June 5 to 14, 2026
The Schützenfest Lüchow is not only one of the oldest but also one of the longest marksmen's festivals in Lower Saxony. For ten days — from June 5 to 14, 2026 — the Schlossplatz and Marktplatz of the Wendland district town transform into a vibrant festival ground. The Schützengilde Lüchow organizes the folk festival, which is considered the traditional marksmen's festival of the district seat Lüchow-Dannenberg.
Unlike many marksmen's festivals held on remote grounds, the Lüchow festival takes place right in the middle of the historic old town. The Amtsturm, the castle, and the Lange Straße form the backdrop — a unique setting that combines marksmen's tradition with urban flair.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven highlights of previous years:
The Schützengilde Lüchow is closely networked with the guilds in Dannenberg, Hitzacker, and Gartow — guest days and the Dreigildenpokal (three-guild cup) connect the marksmen's culture of the Wendland. The Schützenfest Lüchow is the largest and most prestigious in the region.
