Traditional marksmen's festival of the oldest marksmen's guild in Brandenburg
The Schützengilde Luckenwalde von 1425 e.V. is one of the oldest marksmen's guilds in Brandenburg and, in 2026, looks back on over 600 years of history. Founded in 1425, the guild has preserved tradition through all the political changes of the German state – from the medieval Margraviate, through the Prussian Electorate, the Weimar Republic, the Nazi regime, the GDR (during which marksmen's clubs were temporarily banned), to the re-established association in reunified Germany.
Today, the Schützengilde Luckenwalde cultivates both vibrant tradition and active competitive shooting sports:
The guild's headquarters are at Potsdamer Str. 2a, 14943 Luckenwalde, with its own shooting range and club room.
The Schützenfest of the Schützengilde Luckenwalde is one of the most important traditional festivals in the town of Luckenwalde – a central town in the Teltow-Fläming district. The three-day Volksfest takes place annually in summer on the Luckenwalde festival grounds. It combines the following classic elements:
Luckenwalde (around 21,000 inhabitants) is the district town of Teltow-Fläming and lies about 60 km south of Berlin. In the 19th and 20th centuries, the town was an important center for hat making, fur processing, and wire manufacturing. Architecturally, it is known for Bauhaus buildings by Erich Mendelsohn (Salomon Friedländer Hat and Leather Factory, 1923) – a UNESCO World Heritage candidate.
The exact date of the 2026 Schützenfest will be published by the guild in spring 2026 – information available at www.schuetzengilde-luckenwalde.de, www.schuetzenfest-luckenwalde.de, or the Facebook page. Admission to the festival grounds is free; food and drinks are paid for on-site.
The Schützenfest 2026 will be held, as every year, in the summer on the Luckenwalde festival grounds by the Schützengilde Luckenwalde von 1425 e.V. The exact date (usually in July or August) will be finally announced by the guild in spring 2026.
The three-day Volksfest combines the traditional elements of a Brandenburg Schützenfest: festival tent with stage program, shooting competitions and King's shooting with the crowning of the marksmen's king, parade through the town of Luckenwalde, public entertainment, and family program. One of the oldest marksmen's guilds in Brandenburg celebrates its 601st season in 2026.
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food and drinks are paid for directly in the festival tent and at the stalls. Participation in shooting competitions is organized through the Schützengilde.
Train: Luckenwalde station on the RE7 line Berlin–Jüterbog. Approximately 15 minutes' walk from the station to the festival grounds.
