For over sixteen decades, it has organized the traditional Schützenfest year after year, which has long grown beyond a mere club event and has become a major community festival. The 163rd edition in 2026 continues this uninterrupted tradition, engaging younger generations as well as the club's long-standing members.
Friday afternoon is traditionally dedicated to the ceremonial assembly on the Schützplatz. The festival begins with a parade, flag ceremony, and the festive reception of the reigning royal couple. On Saturday, the king's shooting competition forms the sporting highlight. Here, the new monarch is determined among the active marksmen, who is then ceremonially proclaimed and crowned.
A classic festival grounds is set up on the Schützplatz Lilienthal with a large festival tent, a stage for live music and DJ sets, amusement rides, and stalls. During the day, the children's and family area attracts with carousels, games, and special attractions, while in the evening, dance bands and DJs take over the stage in the tent. Sunday traditionally culminates in an extended morning pint with brass music.
