Jubilee Marksmen's Festival for the Centenary of the Krainhagen Marksmen's Club
Founded in 1926, the Krainhagen Marksmen's Club is one of the traditional clubs in the Schaumburg district. For a century, it has fostered marksmanship, camaraderie, and the preservation of customs in the village life of Krainhagen. The board and the festival committee have been preparing for the jubilee for months – with the aim of providing a worthy setting for the centenary that goes beyond the usual scope of festivities.
The central venue for the festival is the Lieth-Halle in Krainhagen. It will be redesigned as a ballroom for the proclamation of the king, the dance evening, and social gatherings. The outdoor area will feature a beer garden, fairground lighting, and food stalls to create a festive atmosphere. The traditional parade through the village involves the citizens of Krainhagen, who decorate their houses with birch branches, garlands, and club flags.
The marksmen's festival follows the proven cornerstones – assembly, king's shooting, proclamation, parade, dance evening, morning pint ('Frühschoppen'), family day – but also sets special accents for the 100th anniversary. Festivities include speeches, a club chronicle, performances by Schaumburg marching bands, and an expanded show program. The dance evening is traditionally accompanied by a live band, and Sunday is dedicated to the morning pint ('Frühschoppen') and the family day with activities for children.
Marksmanship tradition in the Schaumburg region dates back a long way. Numerous village communities hold annual marksmen's festivals, some of whose roots reach back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The Krainhagen Marksmen's Club joins this dense network and, on its 100th anniversary, celebrates not only itself but also a piece of living Lower Saxon club culture that connects generations and structures village life.
As is customary at Schaumburg marksmen's festivals, the festival day begins early with a wake-up call, assembly of the marksmen at the clubhouse, and the march to the Lieth-Halle. Marching bands from the Schaumburg region accompany the parade through Krainhagen, where residents show their connection to the club by decorating their houses and lining the streets.
The proclamation of the monarchs – the King, the Young King, the Ladies' Queen, and the Children's Queen – forms the emotional core of the day. Afterwards, the festival evening with a live band opens the social part. Festivities include speeches, honors for long-standing members, and a look back at 100 years of club history.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Marksmen's Club in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years and will be enhanced with special accents for the jubilee:
