Holtorf — District of Nienburg/Weser
Holtorf is a district of the town of Nienburg/Weser in the Nienburg district. Despite being incorporated, Holtorf has retained its independent village structure and its distinct club landscape. The marksmen's club is one of the oldest and most active clubs in the district.
Holtorfer Schießsport- und Schützenfestverein
The Holtorfer Schießsport- und Schützenfestverein e.V. carries on the tradition of Holtorf's marksmen and organizes the traditional marksmen's festival every early summer. Beyond marksmanship sports, the club fosters community in the district and cooperates with Holtorf's other clubs.
Dobben Shooting Range
The venue is the Holtorf shooting range at Dobben 25 – a dedicated club ground with shooting facilities, a clubhouse, and a festival meadow. The Dobben area in Holtorf is also known for its outdoor pool of the same name and the annual Weserbeatz Open Air; the marksmen have their own premises here and a large outdoor area that can accommodate the parade and dance evenings.
Program Tradition
The festival follows the classic North German marksmen's festival format, with an opening on Friday evening, the main shooting and dance evenings on Saturday and Sunday, a grand parade through the village on Sunday, and the proclamation of the king. Family and children's activities complement the program. Friendly marksmen's clubs from the Nienburg urban area and the Mittelweser collective municipality participate in the grand parade.
