Pimp-your-Schützenfest winner's festival on the Heidenau sports field
With over a century of association tradition and more than 550 members, the Heidenau Marksmen's Association (Schützenverein) of 1925 is one of the largest in the Harburg district. The association preserves classic marksmen's traditions while actively developing them to reach younger generations.
In 2025, the Heidenau Marksmen's Association won the 'Pimp your Schützenfest' competition organized by the radio station Antenne Niedersachsen, beating numerous competitors. The prize money of €10,000 was invested in upgrading the Schützenfest: additional program elements, more modern stage technology, and more attractive offerings for young guests. This boost will also benefit the 2026 edition, making the festival a model for the renewal of marksmen's traditions.
The Heidenau sports field provides the spatial requirements for a large Schützenfest with a festival tent, shooting range, and outdoor areas. Its central location in the municipality of Heidenau ensures good accessibility from neighboring towns in the Jesteburg municipality.
The festival runs from Friday to Monday and follows a classic Schützenfest structure with bird shooting (Vogelschießen), parade (Festumzug), king's dinner (Königsessen), and king's ball (Königsball). Thanks to the investments from the Antenne competition, additional elements have been integrated that make the festival younger and more diverse — such as expanded stage shows, modern lighting technology, and new cocktail offerings.
The association is a member of the North Heath and Elbe Marsh Marksmen's Association (Schützenverband Nordheide und Elbmarsch e.V.) and regularly participates in district championships. The active club life includes women's, men's, youth, and children's groups, explaining the high membership of over 550 people. Friendly associations from surrounding communities send delegations to the festival.
The 2026 edition benefits from the upgrade from the 2025 Antenne competition. Additional stage shows, more modern technology, and expanded offerings for young guests make the festival particularly attractive.
The exact hourly schedule with all program points will be published by the association in the spring of 2026.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the association in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
