Haselünne — the Hanseatic city in the Emsland

Haselünne is one of the few Hanseatic cities in the Emsland region and has preserved its historical identity with market rights, grain tradition, and a remarkably well-preserved cityscape. Several active Schützenvereine (marksmen's clubs) shape the city's customs — from traditional Schützenbruderschaft (marksmen's brotherhood) festivals to clubs in individual districts and settlements.

Stadtmark-Siedlung — Residential district with club identity

The Stadtmark-Siedlung is a residential settlement in Haselünne, whose residents gather around their own Schützenverein. Like many settlement Schützenvereine, this one also acts as a carrier of the neighborhood's identity and fosters community spirit through its annual festival.

Three days of festivities

The festival runs for three days from Saturday, May 16th, to Monday, May 18th, 2026:

• Saturday 16.05.: Festival kickoff with collecting the king, march to the festival grounds, opening evening with live music or DJ
• Sunday 17.05.: Festive church service, bird shooting, king's dinner, festive parade, proclamation of the king, dance evening
• Monday 18.05.: Family afternoon, further shooting competitions, morning pint (Frühschoppen), closing evening

Club life and neighborhood community

Like all settlement Schützenfeste, this one thrives on the voluntary commitment of its club members. From setting up the festival tent to managing the catering, much is organized in-house. The festival thus has a distinctly familiar character, where generations meet and the Stadtmark-Siedlung becomes visible as a community.
