Traditional festival of the St. Sebastian marksmen's guild — August 8th to 10th, 2026
The St. Sebastian Marksmen's Guild Hagen is the custodian of tradition in the municipality of Hagen am Teutoburger Wald. St. Sebastian is the patron saint, traditionally honored by many marksmen's guilds that foster a special blend of religious club character and social celebration.
The 2026 Schützenfest runs from Saturday, August 8th, to Monday, August 10th. The venue is the Schützenplatz (marksmen's grounds) in the nature park community on the southwestern edge of the Teutoburg Forest.
A special feature is the extension of the festive calendar beyond the main festival period:
This means the Schützenfest events span three weekends in August.
As is customary for guild festivals in the Teutoburg Forest, the main festival includes a clear traditional program: bird shooting, king's competition, proclamation of the new king and queen, festive parade through the community, king's dinner, dance evening with live band, morning pint, and family day.
Hagen is located on the southwestern edge of the Teutoburg Forest, within the TERRA.vita Nature Park. Hiking, mountain biking, and culture define its tourist profile. The Schützenfest is the social highlight of high summer for the citizens and clubs.
The program follows the guild's established highlights:
