Danndorf — Member Municipality of the Velpke Collective Municipality
Danndorf is located in the northeastern Helmstedt district and is a member municipality of the Velpke collective municipality. The rural community with around 1,800 inhabitants has a vibrant club life that shapes the social fabric of the village.
Danndorf Marksmen's Association as Organizer
The Danndorf Marksmen's Association is the organizer of the Schützenfest. Men and women of all generations are involved in the club — from young marksmen to senior marksmen. The annual organization of the Schützenfest is the club's biggest achievement of the year.
King's Shoot as the Centerpiece
The king's shoot is the traditional heart of every Schützenfest. Whoever takes the best shot at the bird or the target becomes the new marksmen's king and leads the club's social activities for a year with his court. The festive king's proclamation on Saturday or Sunday evening is the highlight of the festival weekend.
Parade through Danndorf
The traditional parade winds through the streets of Danndorf. Marksmen in uniform, drum corps, music bands, the fire department, and friendly clubs march through the decorated village with music. Residents decorate houses and front gardens — the parade is the visual highlight of the weekend.
Festival Tent and Social Evenings
Evening dance and program events take place in the festival tent. With live bands, DJs, the king's dance, and catering, the social gathering becomes the climax of the festival days. The festival tent is a meeting point for young and old, for villagers and guests from neighboring towns.
Family Day and Morning Pint
Sunday morning features a "Frühschoppen" (morning pint) with brass music. Sunday afternoon is family-oriented: children's shoot, bouncy castle, games, and refreshments. The Schützenfest concludes on Sunday late afternoon with a convivial wind-down.
