Traditional funfair in Rheinböllen with rides, marquee, and market on Tuesday
The Rheinböllen Kerb is the annual folk festival of the Hunsrück town in the western Rhein-Hunsrück district. From June 5 to 8, 2026, rides, stalls, a marquee, and catering stands will transform the town center into a festival ground, bringing together the population of the Verbandsgemeinde and their guests.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the traditional Krammarkt (market) will follow, attracting traders from all over the Hunsrück. With this combination of funfair and market, Rheinböllen continues a centuries-old tradition that shapes the economic and social life of the town.
The Rheinböllen Kerb is the traditional early summer folk festival of the Hunsrück town of Rheinböllen, which plays a central role in the western Rhein-Hunsrück district as a hub on the A61 and B50 motorways. The Kerb has centuries-old roots, originating from the originally ecclesiastical church consecration festival of the parish church, which over time developed into a secular village and later town festival.
In 2026, the Kerb will take place from June 5 to 8 – from Friday to Monday, each with different program highlights. On Tuesday, June 9, the traditional Krammarkt will follow, attracting additional attention to the festival and drawing traders from all over the Hunsrück.
The funfair program includes the classic elements of a Hunsrück folk festival. Rides will be set up on the festival grounds – dodgems, carousels, a children's carousel, haunted house, Ferris wheel, and smaller rides. In the marquee, evening dance events with live music from regional bands will take place; food stalls will offer bratwurst, fries, crêpes, sweets, and drinks.
The program for the Kerb days typically follows a classic pattern: Friday opening evening with tapping of the keg and the first live concert; Saturday folk festival atmosphere with rides operating late into the night and dancing in the marquee; Sunday festive church service, morning pint, family program, and stage program; Monday closing of the Kerb with special prices on the rides.
The Krammarkt on Tuesday is a special feature that distinguishes the Rheinböllen Kerb from many other Hunsrück funfairs. While the rides and marquees cease operations on Monday evening, the town remains connected to trade on Tuesday: traders from all over the Hunsrück and beyond offer their goods – textiles, household items, tools, plants, sweets, food, and seasonal items. This tradition directly stems from the historical function of the Kerb as an occasion for supra-regional trade.
From Friday, June 5, to Monday, June 8, 2026, the Rheinböllen Kerb once again invites you to the folk festival in the Hunsrück town. Rides, a marquee with live music, food stalls, and family activities form the framework for a convivial early summer festival. On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the traditional Krammarkt will follow, attracting traders from all over the Hunsrück.
The 2026 edition of the Rheinböllen Kerb follows the traditional format with a four-day funfair and a subsequent Krammarkt on Tuesday. The marquee offers evening dance events with live music from regional bands; the rides provide a folk festival atmosphere from Friday to Monday.
The Krammarkt on Tuesday is a special feature of the Rheinböllen Kerb and dates back to the historical function of the funfair as an occasion for supra-regional trade. Traders from the Hunsrück offer textiles, household items, tools, plants, and seasonal items.
