Four-day citizens' shooting festival on the first weekend of June — June 5 to 8, 2026
The Schützenfest of the Bürgerschützenverein Glandorf takes place annually on the first weekend of June — in 2026 from Friday, June 5, to Monday, June 8. The festival thus spans four days and offers a complete program from the opening to the conclusion on Whit Monday (if the date coincides with Pentecost).
The Bürgerschützenverein Glandorf is a member of the Teutoburger Wald shooting district (WSB 1861) and cultivates traditional customs together with friendly clubs in the region. The Schützenplatz Am Schützenplatz 1 in 49219 Glandorf has been the venue for the festival for generations.
As is customary for shooting festivals in the Teutoburger Wald, the festival includes a clear program of traditional customs: bird shooting, election of the new king and queen, proclamation of the new royal couple, festive parade through the municipality, king's dinner, dance evening with a live band, morning pint (Frühschoppen), and family day. The shooting festival catering provides beer, bratwurst, and hearty classics.
The advantage of a four-day festival is the opportunity to carefully cultivate all traditional elements: the eve of the festival with a drummer's wake-up call, the main festival day with the parade and the election of the king, shooting for honorary shields, family day with children's entertainment, and a morning pint on the last day.
Glandorf is located on the edge of the southern Osnabrück region, near the border with North Rhine-Westphalia. The shooting tradition is deeply rooted — the Bürgerschützenverein is one of the central pillars of club life. Here, as in many Lower Saxony municipalities, the Schützenfest is the most important date in the annual calendar.
