Narrensitzung and Rosenmontagsumzug in the Eifel village of the Bitburger Land municipality
Karneval Pickließem presents two highlights in 2026: On Saturday, February 14th, starting at 8:11 PM, the traditional Narrensitzung (jester's session) will take place in the festival hall, and on Rose Monday, February 16th, the grand parade will march through the village streets — gathering from 1:11 PM, starting at 2:11 PM. The Pickließem Carnival Club organizes both events with great volunteer commitment, bringing together carnival enthusiasts from the entire Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm into the tranquil village.
Pickließem belongs to the Bitburger Land municipality and maintains a vibrant Eifel Fastnacht (Carnival) tradition with all the elements characteristic of the region.
Pickließem is a typical Eifel village in the Bitburger Land municipality — with a parish church, village community center, and an active club scene. The Carnival Club is one of the most active clubs in the village and organizes a diverse session program with meetings, parades, and smaller events.
The Narrensitzung on Saturday, February 14th, 2026, at 8:11 PM, is a classic Eifel carnival session. In the festival hall, speeches (Bütt), dance performances, show acts, and solo performances are presented. The speeches are delivered in Eifel dialect and humorously address local political, social, and current affairs. The club's own dance groups and those from friendly carnival clubs perform, while a DJ provides breaks for dancing.
On Rose Monday, February 16th, 2026, the parade will assemble from 1:11 PM at the village entrance. Precisely at 2:11 PM, the procession will begin — carnival floats with satirical motifs, dance groups, walking groups, and music bands from the Eifel. The route leads through the main street to the festival hall, where the dissolution of the parade will take place with shared catering.
As in many Eifel villages, float building is a central activity of the Carnival Club. Starting in autumn, members regularly meet in workshops to build and decorate the floats. This volunteer work is an important pillar of the village community and is passed down through generations.
After the parade, the celebration continues in the festival hall until late into the night. Live music, DJ sets, catering with Eifel specialties, and performances by the dance groups provide the setting for a convivial carnival finale.
The 2026 Karneval Pickließem combines the Narrensitzung and the Rose Monday parade into a packed carnival weekend. On Saturday, February 14th, at 8:11 PM, the Narrensitzung begins in the festival hall with speeches, dance groups, and show acts. On Rose Monday, February 16th, the parade forms from 1:11 PM, starting at 2:11 PM — floats, walking groups, and music bands from the Eifel march through the village streets, followed by a carnival finale in the festival hall.
The combination of an indoor event on Saturday and an open-air parade on Rose Monday forms the classic Eifel carnival pattern. The Pickließem Carnival Club meticulously designs both formats, bringing dance groups, speakers (Bütt), and music from the entire Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm to the festival hall and the streets.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in January. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Detailed program available from the Pickließem Carnival Club.
