Schützenverein 1722 — over 300 years of tradition

The Schützenverein Bentheim-Bauerschaft 1722 is one of the oldest marksmen's clubs in the Grafschaft Bentheim. Over 300 years of club life characterize the annual Schützenfest, which is deeply rooted in the hamlets around Bad Bentheim and brings the club life together throughout the year.

Schlosspark as festival grounds

The Schlosspark Bad Bentheim, in the shadow of the imposing Bentheim Castle, serves as the festival grounds. Thus, the festival takes place in one of the most beautiful settings in the county: amidst old trees, meadows, and the silhouette of the castle on the sandstone rock.

Bird shooting and king proclamation

The highlight of every Schützenfest is the bird shooting, where the new marksman king is determined. After the shooting, the proclamation follows, the festive crowning, and the king's dinner in the evening, where the new king is celebrated with his queen.

Festival parade, dance evening, family day

A festival parade leads the marksmen in full uniform through the hamlet. A dance evening with live music in the festival tent provides for convivial hours. The family day with a children's program also involves the youngest generations. The traditional morning pint on the last day of the festival rounds off the multi-day program.
