Traditional marksmen's festival of the Bad Nenndorf marksmen's club in the Schaumburg region
After a break of several years, the Bad Nenndorf marksmen's club successfully revived its Schützenfest in 2022. Since then, the festival has been celebrated annually on a weekend in July – an important date for the spa town, which is already experiencing an extraordinary event year with its State Garden Show in 2026. Frank Gerdau was proclaimed marksmen's king in 2025 and leads the club until the new king is chosen in the summer of 2026.
The Schützenfest traditionally lasts for four days, from Thursday to Sunday. It begins with a gathering, opening ceremony, and musical accompaniment. Friday often features a dance evening with a live band. Saturday is dedicated to the king's shooting, the grand parade through Bad Nenndorf, and the festive proclamation. Sunday concludes with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), family day, and the king's breakfast.
The Schützenplatz is centrally located and easily accessible from the surrounding neighborhoods. A festival tent, shooting ranges, food stalls, carousels, and a beer garden transform the grounds into a classic Schaumburg festival site. The citizens of Bad Nenndorf decorate the streets along the parade route with birch trees, garlands, and club flags – a sight that annually underscores the traditional character of the festival.
2026 is a special year for Bad Nenndorf: the State Garden Show will attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to the spa town between spring and autumn. The Schützenfest fits into this dense event calendar, offering locals and garden show guests a glimpse into one of the defining traditional festivals of the Schaumburg region.
The Bad Nenndorf Schützenfest spans four days and is a central summer event in the spa town. Thursday features the opening, Friday offers a lively dance evening, Saturday is the highlight with the festival parade and king's proclamation, and Sunday concludes with a morning pint (Frühschoppen) and family day.
The Schützenplatz in the center of Bad Nenndorf is set up as a classic Schaumburg festival site: a festival tent, carousels, food stalls, a beer garden, and shooting ranges. The festively decorated streets along the parade route show the club's close connection with the town's citizens.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
