Schützenfest Asendorf

Asendorf and the Kreisschützenverband Asendorf-Bücken

The municipality of Asendorf is located in the western district of Nienburg/Weser and belongs to the Samtgemeinde Bruchhausen-Vilsen. The Schützenverein Asendorf is a member of the Kreisschützenverband Asendorf-Bücken (KSV), an inter-municipal association of shooting clubs in the western Mittelweser region. This association structure facilitates the coordination of individual club festivals and mutual participation in parades and competitions.

Gasthaus Uhlhorn as a Traditional Venue

The venue is the Gasthaus Uhlhorn in Asendorf — a traditional North German inn that has been a meeting point for the village community and a festival venue for clubs for generations. The hall and outdoor areas of the inn provide the setting for the Schützenfest. This combination of club and inn tradition is a typical feature of rural Lower Saxony.

Date after Ascension Day

The Asendorf Schützenfest follows the traditional timing after Ascension Day — a custom rooted in many North German shooting clubs. Ascension Day in 2026 falls on Thursday, May 14th; however, the Asendorf festival on Saturday, May 9th, is before that, indicating the club has chosen an earlier date in 2026. Starts at 10 am.

Program Tradition

The festival follows the classic Schützenfest tradition: king's shooting by club members in the morning, a parade through Asendorf with a marching band and friendly clubs, king's dinner for the dignitaries, proclamation of the new shooting king and queen, and a dance evening in the festival hall of the inn with a live band or DJ.

Networking of Clubs

Through the Kreisschützenverband Asendorf-Bücken, the Asendorf club is closely connected with clubs in Bücken, Warpe, Eystrup, Hoya, and other locations. This networking makes each individual Schützenfest an inter-municipal event and guarantees high participation from guest clubs in the parade.
