Top-class plant market in the South Garden of the Blühendes Barock
From Friday, May 1st, to Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, one of Southern Germany's most important garden events will take place at the Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg. The Baroque Garden Days bring together over 130 exhibitors – nurseries, garden centers, florists, horticultural specialists, and plant connoisseurs – in the baroque palace garden complex of Ludwigsburg. For three days, plant shopping, expert advice, and a stroll through one of Germany's most beautiful garden landscapes will merge.
Each edition of the Garden Days is dedicated to a motto that serves as inspiration for the stand designers. In 2026, it's "Fairy-tale Blossom Magic" – and this will be visibly implemented. New this year is the Blossom Pavilion, a pop-up tent with rotating specialist exhibitors (e.g., fine lilacs, old rose varieties, Japanese perennials) and the Fairy Tale Pavilion, where fairy tale sessions will take place daily at 11 AM and 3 PM – read or performed by storytellers. A garden event that combines the concept of a sales fair with culture.
The exhibitors' range covers the entire spectrum of horticulture: fruit trees and berry bushes, perennials, roses, herbs, balcony and container plants, aquatic plants, Mediterranean plants, Japanese specialties, old apple varieties, rare tomato varieties – in short: everything that makes a gardener's heart beat faster. In addition, there will be garden decorations, sculptures, furniture, tools, and specialist literature. Anyone looking for a special garden tree or a rare perennial will find a selection here that no garden center can offer.
A clever system makes plant purchases logistically relaxed: At the central plant cloakroom, buyers can store their plants free of charge while they continue to stroll through the stands. Starting at 11 AM, the Plant Taxi will transport purchased plants to various parking lots around the Blühendes Barock – for a small fee. Plant doctors are available for individual consultations. This service explains why many visitors arrive by car with ample trunk space.
The Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg is the approximately 30-hectare palace garden complex of the Ludwigsburg Residence, one of Europe's most important baroque palaces. With its Fairy Tale Garden, Rose Garden, South Garden, and Mediterranean Garden, it ranks among the three most important historic garden complexes in Germany. The Baroque Garden Days have been held since the 1990s and serve as both a plant market and a marketing event for the Blühendes Barock – admission to the Garden Days is also admission to the entire palace garden.
Ludwigsburg, with around 95,000 inhabitants, is the former ducal residence city of Württemberg. Characterized by its baroque city layout, the Residential Palace, and the Blühendes Barock, it is considered one of Germany's most beautiful baroque cities. The city's character – baroque, orderly, cosmopolitan – perfectly matches the Garden Days event.
From Friday, May 1st, to Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, the Baroque Garden Days sales exhibition will take place in the South Garden of the Blühendes Barock Ludwigsburg. Over 130 exhibitors will be spread along the paths, presenting their plants and garden products and offering detailed advice to buyers. The atmosphere — baroque garden setting, May sunshine, blooming perennials, conversations among plant lovers — makes the event one of the most pleasant spring destinations in Southern Germany.
New in the 2026 edition are two pavilions: The Blossom Pavilion, a pop-up tent with rotating specialist exhibitors (fine lilacs, old roses, Japanese perennials), and the Fairy Tale Pavilion, where fairy tale sessions will take place daily at 11 AM and 3 PM – read or performed by storytellers. A combination of a sales market and a cultural program that works only in Ludwigsburg.
Admission is included in the regular day ticket for the Blühendes Barock. Adults around €12–€13, children aged 4 and up around €6. Annual and family passes are available. Plant Taxi service for a small extra charge.
By S-Bahn: S 4 / S 5 from Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof to the Ludwigsburg stop – from there, a 10-minute walk to the Blühendes Barock. By car: A 81 exit Ludwigsburg-Nord or Ludwigsburg-Süd, then follow signs. Parking available at the Blühendes Barock (fee required) and at designated parking lots with Plant Taxi service.
