Four-day traditional festival of the shooting club founded in 1907 on the Bogenstraße fairground
With its founding year of 1907, the Apensen shooting club looks back on over 118 years of club history. Generations of Apensen shooting families have sustained club life and made the annual Schützenfest an indispensable part of village life. The club preserves shooting traditions in their traditional forms and actively participates in the Stade shooting association.
The fairground at Bogenstraße in Apensen is the traditional venue for the shooting club. It houses the shooting range, the festival tent area, and outdoor spaces for the festival. Its central location in the village ensures good accessibility and makes the fairground the unmistakable focal point of Apensen's shooting activities.
The festival runs from Thursday to Sunday and follows an unusual format: The program starts every day at 3 PM, allowing for long festival days. Thursday opens with assembly and the Zapfenstreich, Friday features bird shooting and a dance evening, Saturday the grand parade and king's ball, and Sunday the festival finale with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), king's dinner, and the festival's conclusion.
The Schützenfest is the highlight of an active club year, which includes practice shooting, trophy competitions, district championships, and social events. The club maintains ladies', men's, youth, and junior groups, thus ensuring a broad generational structure. Friendly shooting clubs from the municipality of Apensen and the neighboring district of Stade send delegations to the festival.
The municipality of Apensen comprises the communities of Apensen, Beckdorf, Sauensiek, and Nottensdorf in the district of Stade – geographically bordering the district of Harburg. The Apensen Schützenfest is one of the most important social events in this municipality and attracts visitors from the entire region.
The 2026 edition continues the format with the program starting daily at 3 PM. This structure allows for extended festival evenings and gives shooting families time to experience the festival together.
The exact hourly schedule will be published by the club in spring 2026. The key points are proven: Thursday assembly, Friday bird shooting, Saturday parade and king's ball, Sunday morning pint and festival finale.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the club in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
