One of Germany's oldest marksmen's guilds (1477) celebrates its Schützenfest at the Lückenweg festival grounds – three days of tradition in the Celle district of Altencelle
The Altencelle Marksmen's Guild of 1477, with over 540 years of documented history, is one of the oldest documented marksmen's corporations in Germany. Its roots reach back to the late Middle Ages – a testament to how deeply the marksmen's tradition is anchored in the history of North German cities and villages.
Altencelle is located south of Celle's city center and is administratively part of the city of Celle. However, the district maintains its own strong identity, which is expressed not least in its traditional marksmen's guild. The Schützenfest at the Lückenweg festival grounds is one of the district's most important club events.
The festival runs from Saturday to Monday and combines the classic program points of a North German Schützenfest:
The 2026 festival weekend runs from Saturday, May 23rd, to Monday, May 25th, 2026. The venue is the Lückenweg festival grounds in the Celle district of Altencelle.

Admission to the festival grounds is free. Individual festival evenings may have an admission fee.
