Open-Air Cinema with double feature in Klosterpark Schortens
The Klosterpark Schortens, located on the historic grounds of the former Augustinian convent, is one of the most atmospheric venues in the Friesland district. Old trees, expansive lawns, and the connection to the 800-year-old St. Stephanus Church lend the open-air cinema an unusual, almost meditative mood.
The program includes two film blocks: An afternoon screening at 3 PM is primarily aimed at families with children, while the evening screening at 7 PM appeals to a more adult audience. This creates a day that can be experienced together by different generations without all guests having to watch the same film.
Food and drink stands will ensure physical well-being around the screenings. Picnic blankets and folding chairs are welcome, provided the event concept allows – the town of Schortens will provide details on the exact arrangements in spring 2026. The event is part of a series of summer open-air offerings by the town, which bring urban life into the Klosterpark.
Schortens is located in the Friesland district between Jever and Wilhelmshaven. The Klosterpark is within walking distance of the town center; parking is available in the immediate vicinity. Film enthusiasts travel from all over the Wangerland, Sande, and Wittmund.
The open-air cinema remains one of the highlights of the town's summer program. The combination of a family screening and an evening film has proven successful, allowing parents and grandparents to spend the afternoon in the Klosterpark with the children and continue their own film experience in the evening with a second film.
Specific film choices, ticket prices, and possible seating arrangements will be published by the town of Schortens in spring.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Klosterpark, 26419 Schortens (Friesland district).
By car via the A29 to Sande, then via B210/L812 towards Schortens. Schortens-Heidmühle train station is a few minutes' walk away. Parking facilities in the town center.
June 27, 2026 – Double feature at 3:00 PM (family program) and 7:00 PM (evening screening).
Admission details will be announced by the town of Schortens in spring 2026.
Bring a picnic blanket or folding chair, if permitted by the event concept. Warm clothing recommended for the evening screening.
