Traditional Volksfest of the Radish Town Schifferstadt with Radish Festival Parade after a 10-year break
Schifferstadt is the Radish Town par excellence. The Schifferstadt radish grown here – crisp, pungent, with a distinctive aroma – has been a culinary hallmark of the Vorderpfalz region for generations. The annual Radish Festival is the festive tribute to this agricultural tradition.
Since 2023, the Radish Festival has been held in a light format around the Waldfesthalle. Instead of the former large-scale event encompassing the town center, the festival now focuses on a more compact setting – with a festival tent, stage program, food stalls, and a strong social character.
Highlight of 2026 is the return of the Radish Festival Parade on Sunday, June 14th. Around 60 groups will march through the town – the first time the parade has taken place in 10 years. Associations, schools, carnival societies, music bands, floats with radish motifs, and themed walking groups are expected. For the people of Schifferstadt, this is a long-awaited event and a strong symbol of the revival of the Volksfest in its traditional form.
On Friday, June 12th, 2026, the new Radish Queen Julia I. will be crowned – the official representative of the town and its agricultural trademark. The crowning is a festive ritual with musical accompaniment, speeches, and the handover of insignia.
Throughout the three days, the stage program, live music, food stalls, association offerings, and – of course – radish specialties will ensure the festive atmosphere. Anyone wanting to experience the diversity of the radish – from freshly grated to creative modern preparations – will find it here.
The 2026 edition marks a historic moment: the return of the Radish Festival Parade. This combines the light format maintained since 2023 with the classic, large-scale folk festival element, returning a vital symbol of identity to Schifferstadt.
